Things to consider when choosing a new
colocation facility

Power

Ironically it is not space which concerns hosting managers most, it is power and cooling. It is a fact that more power is consumed to cool servers than to run them. The growing trend towards using smaller servers and blades with more computing power is resulting in data centres simply “running out of juice”. This is now a worldwide problem and in the UK it has resulted in a complete rethink in fundamental data centre design.

It is important to seriously consider both what your immediate and future needs will be in relation to power requirements to ensure that any chosen data centre will offer you the scalability you need.
